We place an emphasis on the traditional Soryu Karate curriculum: self-defense, cardiovascular fitness & strength training, kata & sparring. We strive to build confidence, leadership, integrity, perseverance, self-control, indomitable spirit & courtesy in every student. We are committed to providing uplifting martial arts instruction to families and individuals who want a challenge and a change. We provide the ultimate family activity! One of our motto’s is: “The family that kicks together, sticks together.”
American Family Karate started as Alamo Family Karate in San Antonio, TX in January 2001. Instructors from The United States Soryu Karate Federation have been providing top rate instruction in the Texas Hill Country for over 45 years. In June 2007, we moved to New York and restarted the school under our current name, American Family Karate. We are a proud member of The United States Soryu Karate Federation and are the first USSKF school in New York state!
We recognize that the Lord is responsible for all our gifts, talents and all that we have. Therefore, our teaching is done as if each student were our own family. We are not a militaristic style karate school and parents and students find our relaxed, yet structured, atmosphere refreshing.
Whether your goal is fitness, self-defense, tournament fighting or confidence, Martial Arts can fill your needs. No other activity can give you the complete physical and mental training that Martial Arts teaches. You are never too old to start.
